Aiistory Chapter 6: Vintage Romance

Once upon a time, there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering.

Nicole Krauss, The History of Love

Set in a romantic garden, with lush arrangements that are partially modern and vintage set the tone for an intimate affair. Aiistory Chapter 6 features Ili and Bertram who have been dating for the last 8 years, and will be tying the knot next April.

Timeless and elegant, the vintage romantic theme is always a popular choice for quirky and stylish weddings. Drawing inspiration from the bygone era, it not only pulls out the romanticism of the past, but also creates a sense of nostalgia.

Tip: If you intend to go with pastel colours, do incorporate textures and patterns to avoid the colours fading away. Consider intricate florals, french lace and antique typography.

From overdrawn lips to ultra long falsies, what’s old is new again. Lav.S Make Up and Styling completed the overall look with flower crown to embrace a full out vintage romance vibe.

The time-honored western culture tradition "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" was believed to not only bring good luck to the bride on her wedding day but also guarantee fertility and prosperity. Find out the creative ways in which you can incorporate this tradition into your special day in our story below!

Something old:

The British White Volkswagen Beetle provided by Minibug instantly transports you to a glamorous world of forgotten romance. This vintage beauty is one of the most recognizable cars in the world. Loved and adored by many for its unique and classic form, it is full of charisma and charm, the much-loved Beetle is the perfect car to celebrate the start of a blissful marriage!

Something new:

The team from ShirleyLoveyDovey used premium fresh flowers such as Blushing bride proteas, David Austin roses in the bouquets and centerpieces to create a soft and ethereal feel. A big bunch of softly hued fresh and wild flowers, tied together with a piece of lace.

Wedding Flower Package from $388.

Something borrowed:

Love this lace wedding dress that exudes vintage glamour from Kelly’s Bridals. The off the shoulder design works best as it exposes the true sensual beauty of the bride without being too revealing.

Basic Gown Package from $890

Something blue:

In this English tradition, the colour of blue symbolizes purity, love and fidelity. The couple decided to add some blue hues into their shoot by donning their bridesmaids in periwinkle blue gowns. A classic choice of gown colour that does not steal the limelight from the bride yet continues to stand out on it’s own!

Maintain a good visual with flowers and fairy lights as demonstrated by our lovely vendor Sprinkie Parties with a tasteful selection of vintage pieces.

Wedding styling from $350

Here’s one of the favourite shots shared by the photographer, Chee Wee from Eleventwo Media Wedding. The raw emotion and unscripted moment that he managed to capture. This image sums up exactly how the couple felt between each other. Simply joy and love.

Pre-wedding photoshoot from $400

Having an outdoor shoot has and will remain a challenging process but the end product delivered never fails to make us feel that all the hard work was worthwhile. Before we end off, here’s a little note from our featured couple, who also happens to be the owners of Sprinkies Parties, Ili and Bertram:

“We'd always wanted a VW beetle to as part of our wedding shoot (His love for cars, my love for aesthetically pleasing and vintage things) and that sort of set the tone that we wanted for the styled shoot (and hopefully for the wedding!) Everything else easily came into place from there.

Inspiration came from the whole concept of whimsical romance, coupled with dreamy dresses, a classic vintage gown, floral crowns, sweet pastel tones, decor pieces which bring you back to another time, and lots of love and happiness - lots of it.

The outdoor garden setting was just perfect and everything felt so natural and ethereal. Chee Wee of ElevenTwoMedia had managed to capture the gorgeous soft light in every photo. It felt great to have my dearest bridesmaids there with us to celebrate our little fairytale.”
